Purple Sandpipers
Purple Sandpipers are always a joy to come across, since they are so tame and calm and thus easy to photograph. Only the biggest of waves breaking can move these tough little birds (see 3rd photo). They are clearly used to tougher environments; it's no wonder their Scientific name is Calidris maritima.
